N2ADR SDR Frontend, Platinen von DB1CC

Hallo,

Hi Group,

you can find some measurements on TX output of HiQSDR in the
HiQSDR files area. All values are noted in the screen shots
of my HP Spectrum Analyzer.

Some minor layout changes are done and will be completed this week. Then i
upload the newest files to the groups file area to make
it available. The partslist as well as the BOM is currently in work by DG3MDE
and will soon be completed, also some building hints & pictures.
My „project target“ is a complete HiQSDR-TRX, but its a lot of work just for one
man so i hope to get some help from the group in design and ideas & suggestions.
Currently André DL6AST has developed a 100W-PA wich is in Prototype stadium and
will be tested soon @ my Lab.
Automatic preselection/Preamp/Driver Board is currently under construction and
will be available in about 4-6 Weeks.

So more orders for the HiQSDR PCB we have, the PCB will be cheaper for all. All
boards are professional 4-Layer, gold plated, electrically tested board.

To sell Boards as part or as whole is possible but i have to do this via my
company because of the german law
(if you sell more than one, you are a commercial reseller)
and the financial auhorithies are knocking on your door…

Also i have to contact N2ADR because its a non-commercial development and this
status should be kept for the full HiQSDR-TRX project.

I will offer PCB-Boards and (SMD) preassembled HiQSDR boards and
-if there is enough request- complete professional built boards
or Kits as well.

i`ll keep you informed!

btw: personally, i think N2ADR has done the right decision to select a quit
14-Bit ADC instead a 16-Bit ADC. To achieve full 16 Bit resolution at high
frequencies, is much more challenging than in „normal“ measurement like
temperature loggers or so which is tricky enough.
What do you gain from a 16-Bit ADC, if the last two bits are always
flickering at random noise? – give yourself an answer….
It is much better to have a stable 14-bit signal than a noisy 16-Bit one…

Wer also interesse hat kann das ja mal dort signalisieren. Die Yahoo Gruppe heisst n2adr-sdr bzw n2adr-sdr-deutsch

  1. Sir(s):
    1) Been “ doing „(particularly) Rx´s < 30 MHz since ´47 As EE/Ham,avionics,etc.,etc.,through to the present. [ " I´ve seen it(almost)all " ]
    2) The 14 bit ADC/DAC combo you have brought to reality is a very fine thing !
    3) But,what about publishing complete specs., specially the ADC part ?
    4) If -40dB is "adequate" for Tx , it is the region beyond -80dB , down to that theoretical minimum which is of real interest .
    5) Gone are the days that so many do have enough "real estate" for "Full Size Antennas" .
    6) The Rx noise floor(s)/overload thresh-hold(s)+ narrowband (A~1m²) antennas is of very great interest for "the rest of us".
    Sincerely , Rich

    P.S.:
How about offering an Rx ONLY "bestuckt" &
    tested option ?
    — OR ,offer SEPARATE Rx & Tx modules for just such options – & perhaps even further
    " simplify " THE noise problematic ?

  2. Just have a look to http://www.hiqsdr.org and to the yahoo group n2adr-sdr. Having a RX only board would not bring much cost benefit. So this is currently not in focus. Helmut currently works on a 100W amplifier. The 10W amp and the preselection board is finished.
